Dow Jones & Co. Recognizes Airvana as a Company Poised for Long-term Success

Investors’ Choice Award Positions Airvana as a Company Most Likely to Succeed

Chelmsford, MA, April 26, 2004 —  Airvana, Inc. (www.airvananet.com), a provider of All-IP, third- generation (3G) CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure, today announced that the company has been honored as a recipient of the Investors’ Choice award by Dow Jones & Co. The award recognizes start-up technology companies that are best positioned for long-term success in the wireless and mobile communications industry. The award was presented during the third annual Wireless Ventures conference held April 20-21 in Redwood City, CA.

Airvana was one of 10 companies honored with the distinction of “most likely to succeed long-term.” Business leaders, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and industry analysts attending the conference judged the competition based on each participating company’s business plans. VentureWire Editor-in-Chief Richard Shaffer announced the winners at the conclusion of the conference.

“The outlook for the wireless industry is getting better and better and the Investors' Choice Award winners are in prime position to take advantage of these opportunities,” said Shaffer.

“We are honored that our peers in the industry have recognized our potential for long term success” said Randy Battat, president and CEO, Airvana, Inc. “This award validates Airvana’s success in delivering the most innovative All-IP, Broadband Mobile Wireless 1xEV- DO infrastructure to OEM partners and operators with a solid business plan.”

Airvana’s All-IP CDMA2000 1xEV-DO infrastructure enables carriers to deliver “always on” mobile wireless services over wireless networks at broadband speeds, and at a lower cost per bit than any other 3G technology. Networks based on Airvana’s All-IP 1xEV-DO infrastructure have already been deployed in North America, Latin America and Asia.

Airvana provides wireless carriers with end-to-end All- IP radio access infrastructure based on the 3G CDMA2000 1xEV-DO high-speed mobile standard. Since both IP and 1xEV-DO technologies are optimized for data, Airvana’s infrastructure dramatically improves the economics of deploying high-speed mobile Internet services.
