Airvana and Nortel Extend EV-DO Infrastructure Contract

Partnership Enables Worldwide Delivery of Innovative Mobile Broadband Products

Chelmsford, MA, October 4, 2007 —

Airvana, Inc. (NASDAQ: AIRV), a leading provider of mobile broadband infrastructure products, today announced the amendment of its existing CDMA contract with Nortel to include the development and delivery of new EV-DO infrastructure products and software upgrades that Airvana expects will be delivered in 2008 and beyond.  Since signing their original agreement in 2001, Airvana and Nortel have worked to develop products that meet the evolving demand for mobile broadband infrastructure solutions.  Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

As part of the agreement, Airvana’s innovative EV-DO mobile broadband products will be included in upgrades to Nortel’s existing CDMA network deployments, and in new deployments for capacity expansion. They will provide operators with enhanced performance and reliability as well as the ability to offer subscribers the next generation of wireless multimedia services including push-to-talk, VoIP, music download, video streaming, and others.  To date, Airvana has sold over 30,000 channel card licenses to Nortel for use by over 30 operators worldwide.

“Nortel’s decision to deploy future versions of our products is evidence of the strength of the relationship between our companies” said Randy Battat, President and CEO of Airvana.  “We look forward to continuing to develop great technology and products for Nortel in the years ahead as the EV-DO mobile broadband market continues to grow.”
